The Korean Institute for Buddhist Studies first held a summer practice program for ten days at Tongdosa in Yangsan in August 1974. Since then, the event has been held every August. Recently, the program has been renamed as "summer practice congregation," and its duration has been shortened to two to three days.
This year's event was held at Yuma jeongsa on August 24-25.
